Clinical Pilates
Pilates is an whole body exercise modality created by Joseph Pilates in the 20th Century. Initially called “Contrology”, based off of Joseph Pilates’s mind-body philosophy, he believed that physical fitness can be restored with the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit.
Pilates is based on eight core principles: breathing, centering, concentration, control, flow, precision, rhythm and whole body movement. The unique use of spring resistance combined with functional exercises based in movement practices such as boxing, gymnastics, diving, dance and circus arts, has become one of the top fitness trends. With a focus on developing a strong core (muscles of the abdomen, low back, and hips), Pilates emphasizes alignment, breathing, coordination and balance.

What is Clinical Pilates?
Clinical Pilates is individualized pilates, tailored uniquely to you using current physical therapy principles and evidence-based research. An initial consultation by our licensed physical therapists and pilates instructors will assess your movement patterns, medical history, and goals. Clinical pilates will be applied in conjunction with traditional physical therapy modalities to further assist you in reaching your goals. It is an ideal exercise modality for rehabilitation of joint hypermobility, sports injury, pregnancy and post-partum, movement dysfunctions, and spinal instabilities.
